First video I will be posting is on the MOJO Series will be on focusing.
This was the first thing I tried with the Filmic pro app was focusing my shots. Follow me on my journey to becoming a mobile journalist expert.
The link to the video attached on the Moodle is a random video of the O’Connell street. I focused the video on a friend of mine, who is pressing her phone vigorously while waiting for a friend. The day looks dull and cloudy and the shot was taken in the evening.
I had to expose the image properly so that the video is not overly exposed. To take the shot I had to put on the app and turned my phone horizontally and focused my shoot on her, I also adjusted the lightening to suite the environment. I took various shots of her. I took full, medium, and closeup shots.
To use the app, I dragged the focus bar around her face and clicked down on it to keep the focus locked on her face and I also did the same with the lightening bar. Thereby getting the desired focus and light needed to start the video. I also locked in the white balance so that the image doesn’t flicker nor loose light when filming. To take the video I had to lock in my arms beside my body to keep the camera steady and firm. I framed my shot by giving enough head roll while filming her. I made sure she was in the centre of my frame when I was shooting. I also made sure she fits perfectly in the frame and the focus was on her. Even when I was taking shots of my surrounding, I made sure they were in the right frame (that is the individual were in the centre and enough head roll was given to them).
