Making Interview using Filmic Pro

In this episode on MOJO I made an interview of my friend testing my interview skills.

Getting a place to rent in Ireland today is very hard. That is why for this video I decided to interview my ex-roommate Blessing Ezike who has been looking for a single room for the past few months and finally got one last week.

I asked her how hard it was for her to get a place that is suitable for her budget, and I also asked her how she feels now that she has a room to herself and doesn’t have to share.

To take the video I asked her to sit on a chair so that she can feel calm and comfortable while talking to the camera. Opposite where she sat is a big transparent door which allows light to come into the room. To make sure that she did not look dark I asked her to sit opposite the lightening.

To take the video I put the app on and turned my phone horizontally and focused my shoot on her, I also adjusted the lightening to suite the environment. I took close-up shots of her because the audio quality of my phone is not too good. I have two takes of the video, the first was with the main microphone which came out low, so I had to take the new one with the camera’s microphone and I told her to speak up.

To use the app, I dragged the focus bar around her face and clicked down on it to keep the focus locked on her face and I also did the same with the exposure. Thereby getting the desired focus and light needed to start the video. I also locked in the white balance so that the image doesn’t flicker nor loose light when filming.

To take the video I had to lock in my arms beside my body to keep the camera steady and firm. I framed my shot by giving enough head roll while filming her. I made sure she was in the centre of my frame when I was shooting. I also made sure she fits perfectly in the frame and the focus was on her.
